Willow Springs Park hosts the Monarch Day of Action, a community event focused on learning about Monarch Butterflies and expanding their habitat in Long Beach.
Plant Narrowleaf Milkweed and other pollinator-friendly native plants to help create a home for these butterflies. The Long Beach Public Library leads a bilingual storytime in English and Spanish, and the Xerces Society offers a Monarch Habitat Introduction. Community partners are also on-site throughout the morning.
Schedule of activities:
- 9:00 AM – Noon: Community partner tabling
- 9:00 – 9:30 AM: Welcome
- 10:00 AM: Bilingual Storytime (English & Spanish) with Long Beach Public Library
- 10:45 AM: Monarch Habitat Introduction with Xerces Society
- 11:00 AM – Noon: Narrowleaf Milkweed planting
